Welcome

To The World Of

C. Kathleen Summers

I am an artist who sculpts. My main medium is polyform or polyclay. I've loved sculpting since my Play-Doh days. I got away from it somewhat during my teens and 20's, but rediscovered its joys while working in a porcelain doll shop/teaching studio. When my mobility became restricted I sold the kiln and now am a polyclay junkie. Polyclay cures in a regular home oven, comes in assorted colors and strengths, and its uses are limited only by our imaginations...

Another creative outlet for me and my family is attending Science Fiction/ Fantasy conventions. Every 4th of July weekend you can find us at InConJunction in Indianapolis IN. We don our convention personae and costumes and go a-filking, shop in the dealer room, add art to our ever growing collection from the art room, and bid on items at the art auction. We attend the panels and participate in myriad activities. We also costume for the masquerade and usually come away with an award or two.

The light of my life and joy of my world is my 17 year old daughter Charlotte. She also is an artist who has sold her work privately as well as at convention art shows/auctions. Charlotte loves art, musicals, dance, Vampire the Masquerade, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Westley. Her ambition is to work in film as an animator and/or graphic designer. Her dream is to make creatures for the Creature Shop.

While on my evergoing journey into wellness and self acceptance I have come into contact with some wonderful and supportive people. This type of journey is seldom easy and is not a quick trip as I'm still traveling. As life's stresses increased and my ability to cope decreased my weight increased and my good health decreased. Self acceptance, love and support (and peppermint oil) have gotten me this far and I know I shall continue to go further. Some of us are very wounded and quite bitter. It can be a daunting task to keep a healing attitude in the face of an oppressive reality, but we need to remember that we can, to a great extent, shape and, in some cases, reshape our own realities. Dr. Leo Buscaglia, a great man who was a fervent proponant of unconditional love and acceptance, taught me much through his writings. He said, "Anything learned can be unlearned and then relearned".

I have received so much caring support and boy, was it ever needed! The sister of my heart, Kathy, has shown me many things about loving, giving and working in the spirit. Karen has opened my eyes to new and yes, sometimes strange seeming possibilities. Martin, ever-present, never-questioning, always loves and accepts me as I am in whatever stage of growth I'm struggling through. Carrie, my mom, showed me that all things are possible to them that love the Lord, along with myriad other important lessons.

The folks at SizeWisePlus help me know I am not alone on my journey. Through their humor, compassion and sharing of triumphs and sorrows my life has been enriched.

Thank You All
